What’s your name? Darcy Friesen.
I have been a farmer…: my whole life. I grew up on the farm where my father was born and raised and I started farming with my dad actively when I was 10-12 years old.
I’ve been a Farm At Hand user since: I’ve been using the app probably actively for almost 4 years now. I downloaded it right after it came out. I like it; it’s quick and easy to use. You can update your data on the go and I love that I can access it from the website and phone app.
Where do you farm? We farm in Langham, just NW of Saskatoon.
What do you grow? We mostly grow wheat, canola and lentils.
What do you love about farming? I love the lifestyle and the flexibility to be your own manager. In a way i would say, the effort you put in is the result you get out of it.
What’s one of your favourite moments when you’re out in the fields? The amazing scenery and watching sunset from the combine!
What’s your most important piece of equipment and why? I have to say I do not have a favourite. I enjoy using every piece of equipment that we use on our farm.
Can you share with us what you think our biggest challenge in Ag right now? Explaining to the non-farming communities that the food we grow is safe and of good quality.
If there is one thing you want the general population to know about farming, what would that be? We are proud to do our best be good stewards of our land and we take our job seriously, to provide safe food for all people and animals.
